Can Electronic Cigarettes Threaten The Health Of E-Smokers?

When trying a new product it is wise to ask about the potential risks that may be encountered. When it comes to health, e-cigarette producers will honestly tell you the scientific studies have not been completed for this new product. However, they will also tell you that inhaling a vapor mist is not comparable to the health risks of inhaling tobacco smoke.

For generations the dangers of smoking were not known. As the habit was clearly proven to have links to cancer, heart disease and proven to be a causative factor in other serious illnesses even long term smokers now realize the dangers of inhaling toxic smoke. Smokers used to argue that tobacco was a natural product and therefore not dangerous. The changes that occur in this substance when it is burned is the root of the problem for smokers.

Sold initially as a gimmick or gag gift, electronic cigarettes have only been on the market since 2003. Rapid advances in technology and battery development has led to the gimmick becoming a viable tobacco alternative. There is no argument that there are few products sold that carry more health risk than tobacco items. That may account for the growing popularity of e-cigs.

There is no combustion with e-cigarettes and no carcinogens created by burning. There is nicotine, of course, but by itself nicotine is not considered a health risk. The vapor is produced by propylene glycol and some health concerns and myths focus on the inclusion of propylene glycol.

Some claims have be publicized that antifreeze is an ingredient in electronic cigarettes. Most antifreeze is made with ethylene glycol which is a different chemical compound. Propylene glycol used to create the vapor mist has been approved as a food ingredient safe for consumers for more than 40 years.

Electronic cigarette supplies do not claim there are no health issues associated with e-cigarettes. To date, no issues have been determined yet it will take time for full testing of this new product. Although the e-cigarettes health risk is not yet fully known it is safe to say that inhaling vapor mist is safer than smoking tobacco.

The e-liquid used to refill e-cigarettes has been shown to be unreliable and if there is a health risk associated with e-cigarette (s) it is with these refill products. Quality control of some cheaper varieties is nonexistent and it is wise to purchase refill e-solution only from a recognized seller.

If there is any health issue currently associated with e-cigarettes it is the poor quality assurance of some e-liquid producers. Cheaper imported solution have been tested and found to contain widely varied levels of nicotine and other ingredients that are questionable. This may leave a smoker dissatisfied with a low dose of nicotine ot hr msy receive a dose that is too high.

If you choose an electronic cigarette using pre-filled cartridges there is no need to worry about the quality and safety of e-liquid refills as you will never use them. E-cigarettes do not appear to post health or safety concerns for users and are arguably safer than smoking standard cigarettes.
